We chatted about this today on the air.. One of country's defining characteristics is its embrace of working-class roots, with country singers often expressing pride in their own trailer-trashiness or the battle to make rent. But recently, a few female country singers have stepped away from this point of view, portraying small-town narratives in a more melancholy light. Instead of endorsing the backwoods lifestyle, these artists question small-town living, the value of tradition and the virtue of staying in one's place. Kacey Musgraves, Ashley Monroe and Brandy Clark sing about boredom and dreams that go stale--narratives that seem more appropriate for the times we're living in.. What do you think? Comment below!
Hosting Thanksgiving dinner (like we do EVERY YEAR!.. Sorry ha)doesn't have to be expensive. Sticking with traditional dishes (potatoes and carrots are cheap!) and flavoring up an inexpensive turkey are just two easy tricks that keep costs down. "It's the bells and whistles that are expensive in a Thanksgiving dinner," says Melissa d'Arabian, host of the Food Network's Ten Dollar Dinners. So make big batches of classic sides like mashed potatoes. (Note: The 10-lb. bag of potatoes at the supermarket is usually cheaper than buying several loose spuds.) Other ideas? Brine your on-sale turkey to make it taste more expensive and eschew any meat-based sides. And don't forget that turkey bag thingy! Gobble Gobble!

Here's the gem we talked about today HAHA James Collins thought his neighbors in Florida were mean and wouldn't drink with him, so he called 911. "The complainant, James Collins, stated that his neighbors were being mean and would not drink with him," a police report says. "(An officer) explained to James about misusing 911." It could be argued that Collins, who turned 56 the day of the incident, did not get the message. That's because about 30 minutes later, he is accused of calling 911 in regard to his neighbors "not drinking with him." Collins was subsequently arrested on charges of disorderly intoxication and misuse of 911.. I'll drink with ya James!
Hermès, the French luxury clothier, is selling a pair of boxer shorts for $470. They're pleated, and also have a "storage pouch." But, as Business Insider writes, "Usually, the point of buying insanely high-end clothes is to impress someone with your fine taste or conspicuous wealth. But if the other person is seeing your underwear, doesn't that usually mean you've already impressed him or her?" I say CORRECT! Who needs underwear.. HA! I'd put a picture.. But I can't find one I'm allowed to use :)
